The TD42T is a well-known 6-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine used in Nissan Patrol/Safari Y60 and Y61 applications, as well as selected commercial vehicles. Nissan lists the TD42T as a 4,169 cc inline-six OHV turbo-diesel, with one Y61 specification producing 118 kW and 330 Nm.
The TD42 platform is known for its robust cast-iron construction and mechanical diesel design. The factory turbocharged versions were developed with strengthened internal components to accommodate boost.
